Yard Sales 6/8/13

Last Saturday, we decided to get up early and hit the yard sales. We checked craigslist and saw there were a lot in our area, so we made a list the night before.

We got up and didn't even stop to have breakfast. And it's a good thing we left early, because the temperature went into the triple digits that afternoon! So by the time we got home, it was already really hot (and most people were giving up for the day).

This was the first thing we picked up. It was bundled with another item (which I'll get to) so it ended up being free. That's something I can't argue with!

This camera came from the same yard sale. I'm not sure if it works yet, but look at this complete set of items!  The camera (of course), flash, three extra lenses, two extra lens caps, an unused roll of film, instructions, and bag. I don't even care if it doesn't work, this one's a beaut! I love those old school camera straps.

This Pabst Blue Ribbon neon sign comes from a different yard sale. The woman actually gave it to us for free once she saw we were interested in it. It's broken, and she said she'll never get to fixing it. We're going to have to look into places to get it fixed because this thing is awesome.

As you can see, top/middle part is what doesn't light up. (Not the best photo, apologies.)

Schiff's Estate Sale Building

Address number 3 on our Saturday list didn't take us to a house. We were pleasantly surprised to arrive at Schiff's Estate Sale Building. As I took a few photos outside, a woman came up to me asking what I was taking photos for - turned out she was the owner! She explained that they hold estate sales for houses in gated communities/apartments/places that are more difficult to get into. Everything from the house that is getting sold gets brought to this store, so that people looking to buy aren't all over the family's neighborhood.

The other half of the store is antiques. A great combo.

There's also garden/patio area with lots of outdoor antiques and plenty of succulents. I loved the way some of them were planted in old sinks and wheelbarrows.

We'll definitely be coming back here in the future.
