Antique Trove Sale

Last weekend, Ed and I busied ourselves with lots of thrifting adventures. It started out by just being a morning of estate sales - but after seeing signs for yard sales, stopping at the thrift store, and then seeing a huge red SALE sign at the Antique Trove - it turned into much more of an adventure. Add some Mexican food into the mix and fireworks at the end of the day, and you've got one amazing Saturday.

We didn't find much all day until we got to the Antique Trove. We were actually on our way home, but that sale sign caught my eye and we turned around.

We picked up a few treasures - all of which matched well for a little blog photoshoot.

When Ed picked this one up to check the price, we double and triple checked it. It was the cheapest thing we ever found at the trove! Obviously he already liked it, so that sealed the deal. A great find!

1. We love globes/maps. 2. We love books. 3. We love secret hiding places. This couldn't be more perfect for us. It's in great condition, too!

I found the perfect addition to my brass animal collection!! These are just so cute. I found them right before we were about to check out and I'm so happy I spotted them.

It usually ends up that you find the coolest stuff when you didn't plan on shopping in the first place!

Globe Mugs

The infamous globe mugs! I know a lot of people who have these - including my own mother and my best friend. I always use them when I'm at home, and would excitedly grab one out of the cabinet at my friend's house as well. They're just fun, and I love that they're clear.

That's probably why, when my mom saw a whole set of them at an estate auction, she bought them for me. So when I opened my gifts on my 18th birthday, I was delighted to find these (and I remember laughing a lot).

They're perfect for a smaller cup of coffee or tea; I also use them for small portions of ice cream (when I don't want to go overboard because mmmm ice cream)! I actually have never used that one with the little spout (for milk/cream), but I do keep sugar in that last one.

Do you have globe mugs? They seem to be pretty popular!

Globes

Quite suddenly we started a collection of globes. We both admired them, and then ended up finding ones we liked for good prices all at once. Not that that's a bad thing - they've all found good spots in our apartment - it's just silly how quickly it happened!

This is the first time I've grouped them all together and let me tell you it is a beautiful sight (for me).

On our way to some estate sales one weekend, we came across a moving sale. Picked this baby up for two bucks. Looks like it was a kid's - there's a pencil line all the way around it (planning a trip perhaps?).

This one comes from an estate sale. Can't go wrong with the classic style.

We got this one from an antique store right in town - Route 65 Trading Post. The globe spins, as well as the entire thing, and it has a clock/thermometer/hygrometer on the bottom section. Very heavy and very cool (if you're into globes).

We found these bookends at the Antique Trove. And yes, they spin.

I was beyond excited when we found this globe lamp. I had been previously looking at them online and figured if I was ever going to get my hands one one, it'd have to be from ordering it. Little did I know, we'd find this beauty at the Antique Trove! It has the most perfect glow.

There you have it! And who knows, we'll most likely acquire some more globes in the future (I definitely want a large one on a stand).
