My Wall: Part 2 & 3

Once upon a time, I wrote up a post about my wall. And since that post, we've moved a few times. I've since set up my wall twice - two different ways.

If you're just catching up now, I'll do a little recap:

I have a collection of hanging wall decorations that I like to hang all together. I just love the look of having a collage of semi-matching things up on the wall. A lot of these end up being owls or nautical themed, but it can really be anything as long as it looks nice together.

This is the current setup of my wall. It's in our living room above the couch. I stopped hanging stuff as it reached a closed shape. I have more items that I might add eventually, but I will only do so if it doesn't look unfinished at the end. That was what I didn't like about the original spot - it never looked finished.

This was at one of our previous apartments - in the bedroom. (Low quality photo, taken on my iPod touch.) I noticed this open wall space above the closet doors and thought it would be perfect for my decorations. I love how it turned out up there. As you can see I have a lot more of them hanging in this space.

So far, in each apartment I've set up my stuff in a different spot. First the den, then the bedroom, and now the living room. Who knows where it'll be once we have a house of our own!

I normally mention where everything was from, but I have smaller posts for the individual items, some of which I've posted and some I have yet to photograph. Everything was thrifted, though!

Happy Thrifting!

My Wall

Now that I'm getting back into the swing of things, I'll give you a bit of an update. Over the past month, my fiancé and I (yes, fiancé!) have been moving everything from our apartment into storage, and subsequently going our separate ways. He is now deployed, and I'm back in Pennsylvania spending time with family and friends. While we were packing up our things, I did as many little photo shoots for this blog as I could, so I could continue updating over the next few months. I didn't expect to be abandoning it completely for the past month, but hey we've been busy!

So, no worries, I haven't given up! Be ready for more regular updates from me again :)

Now, let me introduce you to my wall.

There's actually one small empty space by the top right of the owl clock - what was there had fallen about two days before I took this photo. This is the work in progress that I'm positive I will always be looking to add new things to. As you can see, I've just added things as I found them. The theme is open to anything that matches, really. I just love the idea of covering a wall like this - and it only started with maybe about 4 little square decorations (and has grown into this!). Unfortunately since we moved, I took everything down from this wall. As soon as we get set up in our next place, you better believe I'll be starting all over again - most likely rearranging how I see fit (well how WE see fit, I am so indecisive I can never hang things alone).

Of course there are a few things hanging up here that you have seen before on the blog, and some things I haven't written about yet. You'll be seeing those in the near future!

Thank you to my loyal readers!! :)

Sutter Street

While making our plans for last weekend, we came across some reviews for Sutter Street in Folsom, CA. It was described as a cute old town, perfect for antiquing. Needless to say, we added that to the list.

We got there Saturday morning around 10:30, and it's good thing we didn't get there any earlier because nothing opened until 11am. After waiting, we sat down for some breakfast at the Black Rooster (delicious!) and then hit the antique shops. There was a building with 3 of them in a row and most of the vendors had sales going on. Turns out, the new owner of the building wants all antique shops gone (sad face), so the vendors are either moving to different places or quitting altogether. That was pretty disappointing, since we were excited to find this town, but we're going to try to stop in one more time before they've moved.

Here's what we picked up:

Ed's find. He loves bats. I actually said, "You love bats," when he picked it up. And a bat mounted on a plaque? Perfect.

Ed's find. A barometer/thermometer. The thermometer definitely doesn't work anymore, and there's a crack in the middle section but that just adds to the charm/what do we care? It still looks awesome.

My find. Another weather instrument. Okay so we really like these things (there are at least two others in the apartment, one here).

Happy Thrifting!
